Two animals killed, but no injuries to humans in Colona fire

After more than five years of frenetic reconstruction work, Notre Dame Cathedral showed its new self to the world Friday, with rebuilt ceilings and stonework erasing somber memories of its devastating fire in 2019. French President Emmanuel Macron was among the first to tour it.

Firefighters responded Thursday morning to a structure fire in Colona.

The Colona Fire Department received a call at 10:57 a.m. for a trailer on fire at Willow Haven Mobile Home Park.

When the fire department arrived the trailer was almost totally involved in the fire, Colona Fire Chief John Swan said. The firefighters were able to get the fire extinguished with no injuries, but that two animals were lost in the trailer.

The Colona Fire Department was supported by three other fire departments.

Swan said that the fire is under investigation at this time, and that the department hopes to share more information in the coming days.
