NNA - The UNIFIL issued the following press release on Saturday:
"This morning, the Italian CIMIC of the Western Sector of UNIFIL, together with the president of the unions of the municipalities of Tyre, Mr. Hassan Dabouk, organized a free medical visit session to the population displaced by the Blue Line who still find themselves hospitable at the Tyre university. Italian doctors have examined and delivered medicines to over one hundred people, women, men, and children who have had to abandon their homes for nearly two years. In addition, the Commander of Sector West, Gen David Colussi, participated at the unions of the municipalities of Tyre in donating school supplies to the mayors of five Blue Line villages: Al Duhayra, Yarin, Boustan, Marwahin and Mazraat El Zalloutiye. Donating backpacks, pencil pens, and notebooks helps' families allow their children to better attend school due to rising prices. In addition to the village mayors and Mr. Dabouk, there were numerous authoritas' and representatives of the LAF, UNIFIL's main partner in building a lasting established'.
The support offered in the health and education sectors is essential for the UNIFIL Sector Western and for all its efforts. In recent days the CIMIC of Sector West concluded a donation of electronic equipment and stoves for the winter to the school in Hannawija where the principal gave available a plan to house the classes displaced from the village of Ata Ash Shaab. At the same time, the Italian Contingent is distributing to about ten health structures, medicines and equipment to support the most's vulnerable segments of the population.
UNIFIL continues every day in its work to support the authorities of southern Lebanon and the population. At the same time, alongside the LAF, it patrols south Lebanon every day, monitoring and recording any violations of Resolution 1701."
