Major music fest wants to return to estate this summer

Thousands of dance music fans will make their way to Wiltshire this summer - if organisers are granted a licence.

Gemfest wants to return to Charlton Park near Malmesbury with its festival of house, garage, jungle, and drum & bass.

The Cardiff-based event organiser plans to hold its weekend-long event from Thursday to Sunday, June 11 to 14.

It wants permission to play live and recorded music, and serve late night refreshments and alcohol. It also intends to have walkabout circus performers and show films.

The site will be open to campers on Thursday, June 11 and cleared by 2pm on the Monday.

All attendees will be aged 18 and over and bars will be operating a 25+ validation scheme.

The festival site will be behind the South Lodge at Charlton Park. The organisers said they will be hiring professional security and noise management experts.

Last year's Gemfest event was held on the same weekend in June as trance music festival Existance.

The festivals were held in different parts of the 450 acre estate and landowner the Earl of Suffolk & Berkshire wrote to Wiltshire Council to assure them he had no concerns about both events taking place at the same time.

Wiltshire Council's licence consultation ends on December 16.
