3 luxury store staff held for molesting women | Hyderabad News - The Times of India

Hyderabad: Three employees of a luxury ethnic wear showroom on Road No. 10, Banjara Hills, were arrested after a 30-year-old woman alleged that one of them molested her and her friend during a visit to the showroom on Nov 24. The complainant, a resident of Dwarakapuri Colony, told police that an employee inappropriately touched her and her friend while draping sarees. "Under the guise of draping the saree on us, he inappropriately touched us repeatedly. The acts were committed with malicious intention exceeding the appropriate and necessary amount of physical contact required for draping a saree and clearly amounts to outraging the modesty of a woman," she stated. On Nov 27, the two women returned to the showroom to lodge a complaint and requested to review CCTV footage. According to the complainant, the staff tried to offer compensation to silence them and discouraged them from approaching police. She also alleged that showroom staff later deleted the surveillance footage before police arrived. Based on the complaint, Banjara Hills police registered a case against four persons, including three employees, under sections 75(1) (sexual harassment), 76 (assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe), 77 (voyeurism), 79 (gesture or act insulting the modesty of a woman), 238 (causing disappearance of evidence) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) read with 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and section 65 of the IT Act. "We have arrested the three employees. They were produced before the magistrate on Saturday and granted bail," Banjara Hills sub-inspector P Naveen said.
