It's a familiar winter story: cold hands, warm sweaters, and barely a sip of water all day. When the temperature drops, our thirst cues go silent, leaving us far less hydrated than we realise.
During winter, most people forget to hydrate simply because they don't feel thirsty. But staying hydrated is non-negotiable. According to nutritionists, winter hydration is just as crucial for immunity, digestion, and comfort.
We often forget that the body continues to lose fluids even in cold weather. Garima Goyal, Dietitian, Fast&Up India, tells Moneycontrol, "Breathing, indoor heating, and heavier winter meals all contribute to dehydration without us noticing." She adds that warm, nourishing beverages not only help maintain hydration but also support immunity, which tends to dip during the winter months.
From herbal infusions to mineral-rich soups, winter drinks can play a far more important role than we give them credit for. "They soothe, hydrate, warm, and heal, all while making it easier to drink consistently through the day," she adds.
Light, warm, and surprisingly hydrating, a clear vegetable soup delivers minerals, natural electrolytes, and immune-supporting nutrients. Carrots, spinach, lauki, and beans make it wholesome without feeling heavy.
