Worden Park in Leyland has been named by Keep Britain Tidy as People's Choice winner for 2025 after thousands of park users across the UK voted for their favourite sites.
The special recognition comes after the site achieved the prestigious Green Flag Award quality mark earlier this year, which recognises and accredits high quality and well managed green spaces.
Worden Park, located in the heart of Leyland, offers more than 60 hectares of meadows, woodlands and playing fields and is home to the historic Worden Hall, the largest children's playground in Leyland, formal gardens, a hedge maze and miniature railway.
Councillor Matthew Farnworth, South Ribble Borough Cabinet member for Parks, Events and Culture said, "It's fantastic to see Worden Park recognised on the national stage as being an exemplary green space, especially when voted for by the public. A lot of hard work by volunteer groups and South Ribble Borough Council staff goes into the park, keeping it looking beautiful and most importantly maintaining it as a fantastic community asset.
"We're extremely proud that Worden is the only park outside of London to have held a Green Flag award for every year since the scheme began."
The 10 People's Choice winners, including Worden Park, are among a record breaking 2,250 parks and green spaces that achieved the Green Flag Award this year, with successful submissions from local authorities and other land managers across the country for a range of sites, from world-famous city parks to small, local green spaces.
Green Flag Award manager Paul Todd MBE said: "The People's Choice awards is our way of helping the public recognise the hard work done by the thousands of parks staff and volunteers up and down the country who work tirelessly to make their parks and green spaces fantastic places that everyone can enjoy.
"Worden Park and the other nine winning sites represent some of the UK's hardest working individuals and groups working within our highest quality parks - and this has clearly been recognised and appreciated by the public."
