Surrey is in line for a week of poor weather, with the Met Office predicting "successive bouts of rain" every day until the end of the week. Despite this though, temperatures are expected to remain relatively high.

As we enter September, and summer continues to wind down, the Met Office is predicting Surrey's weather to reflect this seasonal change.

With a week ahead which is set to mostly consist of rain and cloudy weather. Notably though, the summer heat is seemingly still with Surrey, as 20C days are predicted.

Looking toward the week ahead, a spokesperson for the Met Office is predicting weather to be "windier than of late, with successive bouts of rain", suggesting that some areas may experience thunder and heavy showers. The spokesperson did add that "some sunny spells are still likely".

Continuing into the following weeks of September (13-22), the spokesperson for the forecaster has told people to expect: "Generally unsettled with low pressure dominating much of the period. This will mean showers or longer spells of rain will affect most of the UK at times."

"A deep low likely crosses the country later on the weekend clearing early next week bringing heavy rain and strong winds. Following this a return to showers with periods of longer spells of rain is likely. Thunderstorms and hail are also possible, as are some spells of strong winds, especially if further deeper lows affect the UK."

"Later in the period, there may be some spells of drier weather that develop, especially towards the south, with more in the way of sunshine. Temperatures will likely be close to average or slightly below overall, but may rise above at times in drier, sunnier spells."

Will Surrey be hit by Storm Amy?

The Met Office has said they are monitoring the first storm of the season, named Storm Amy, to see if it will affect the UK.

What has been predicted by the forecaster is that on Wednesday (September 10), much of the county will experience heavy showers as a new area of low-pressure approaches from the Atlantic Ocean.

Throughout much of Wednesday, the Met Office has forecast the chance of rain precipitation to remain above 70 per cent, meaning showers should to expected to last through the day, and into the early evening. Areas such as Guildford and Woking are predicted to see dark rain clouds in their skies throughout the day, while towns such as Reigate and Epsom should be more sunny, despite the rain.

Looking onto the rest of the week, Surrey is forecast for more, this time lighter showers, which, from Thursday (September 11) until Saturday (September 13), will generally begin in the afternoon, and continue into the early evening. With showers also forecast for Sunday morning (September 14), predicted to end by around 1pm.

In relation to the prospect of a storm hitting the county, the Deputy Chief Meteorologist Tom Crabtree explained: "We are keeping an eye on a deepening area of low-pressure which will develop over the North Atlantic during the coming days and might bring impactful weather to the UK, most likely on Sunday and Monday."

"At present, it's too early to say the precise impact this might have on the weather, but it's likely to bring widespread heavy rain and strong winds, most probably to the north of the UK."

"We are closely monitoring what the various computer models are suggesting and will keep people updated as our forecasts evolve over the next few days."
