MACH Energy seeks special leave from the High Court to save its expansion plans

Should the special leave bid prove unsuccessful, the Project is still headed back to the NSW Land and Environment Court for a hearing.

The community group Denman Aberdeen Muswellbrook Scone Healty Environment Group DAMS HEG won the landmark court judgement that, according to their legal team, completely up-ends how planning authorities assess new and expanding fossil fuel projects, for the Upper Hunter, that means all existing coal mine projects currently being assessed by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment will now have to include climate change impacts of those projects on the local community.
