DotCom tagger busted - Domain Name Wire | Domain Name News

Government wants graffiti artist behind "DotCom" tags to pay restitution.

Ever since moving to Seattle, I've gotten a kick out of a graffiti tag I see around town: DotCom.

Now, King County, where Seattle is located, wants the prolific graffiti artist behind these tags to pay up.

The county filed more than 30 criminal cases against 16 graffiti taggers who are active in the area.

It alleges that the man behind the DotCom tags is Andrew Vaughn, a 23-year-old who lives in Bellevue, an upscale suburb of Seattle. (It happens to be where Identity Digital, a domain registry that is decidedly non-com, is located.)

King County isn't trying to jail the graffiti artists. It just wants them to pay for the costs of repairing the damage they have caused.

I guess that means DotCom graffiti will trend the same way .com domains are trending these days: there will be less of it.
