'World's Tallest Shivling' Worth Rs 3 Crore Is On Its Way To Bihar's Virat Ramayan Temple: '126 Ft Ka Assam Main Hai'

The tallest Shivling ever carved from a single piece of granite is now on its way from Tamil Nadu to Bihar. Standing 33 feet tall and weighing 210 tonnes, it was created in Mahabalipuram after years of work by skilled artisans. A special 96-wheel hydraulic trailer has been arranged to carry the huge structure safely across states.

The Shivling will be installed at the upcoming Virat Ramayan Temple in East Champaran, where it will be the main attraction once the temple opens. The journey is expected to take around 20 to 25 days, depending on the route, traffic and weather.

Officials in every state are reportedly working together to ensure the transport proceeds smoothly and without delay.

World's Tallest Shivling Begins Its Long Journey

The massive Shivling has been carved from a single granite stone in the Pattikadu area near Mahabalipuram.

As reported by ETV Bharat, artisans spent nearly ten years shaping it, with special care given to the carving and overall balance. The cost of creating it is estimated at Rs 3 crore.

The trailer carrying it will pass through several cities, where temporary platforms are being set up for people to offer prayers.

Many devotees are preparing to welcome it with rituals and short processions whenever it stops. Priests will be present at different locations to perform pujas dedicated to Lord Shiva.

The structure will also become the largest monolithic granite Shivling to ever be placed inside a temple in India. Once it reaches Chakia, the temple committee will prepare for its installation, which is planned for early 2026.

Temple Work Moves Ahead Steadily

The Viraat Ramayan Temple is being built by the Mahavir Mandir Trust in Patna, as per ETV Bharat. The complex will be 1080 feet long and 540 feet wide, with its walls showing scenes from the Ramayana. It will include 22 shrines, 18 spires and a main spire rising 270 feet high.

Some major parts of the structure are already complete, including the entrance gate, Ganesh Sthal, Singh Dwar, Nandi, and the piling of the sanctum sanctorum.

After the Shivling reaches Bihar, the 'Pran-Pratishtha' will be held at an auspicious time, with saints and thousands of devotees expected to attend. The temple will reportedly begin opening to the public in phases.

The news has led to many reactions from users on social media. A person wrote, "126 feet ki already hai Assam me 33 feet ki kaise tallest hogi?"

Many others commented, "Har har Mahadev" and "Jai Shri Ram." An individual also questioned the environmental impact, saying that "carving a 200-tonne stone requires cutting a hill, which could affect the ecosystem that depends on that mountain range."

Some were not convinced with the world's tallest tag. A user said, '126 ft ka already hain Assam main. How is this tallest?'
