Panchayat election reservations report to be filed today

Panchayat election reservations | Hyderabad, Nov. 20: The dedicated commission to submitted its report today on Panchayat election reservations to the state government.

The panel earlier completed the report after the cabinet urged immediate polls without exceeding the fifty percent reservation cap.

The cabinet also directed the commission to frame the report in line with the reservation limit. Therefore the commission finalized reservation lists for sarpanch and ward member posts.

The commission chairperson Busa Venkateshwara Rao will hand the report to the government today. Soon after that the government will approve the report and send it to all districts.

Moreover officials will fix ward and sarpanch reservations as per the new data.

Soon after approval the government will forward the final reservation gazette to the Election Commission. The Panchayat Raj Department will also submit a letter confirming its full readiness for the polls. After these steps the Election Commission will release the schedule.

Meanwhile the High Court will hear the case on local body polls on the twenty fourth of this month.

Because of this the government will file an affidavit today or tomorrow. The affidavit states that the state will finalize reservations and send them to the Election Commission within three weeks. It also states that the government stands fully ready to conduct the polls.

However the government will move ahead strictly as per the High Court directions. The state expects clarity after the next hearing.

Officials also expect the court to note the progress made on reservations. Furthermore they plan to complete all pending steps with speed once the court gives its nod.

This process sets the path for early Panchayat elections. It also brings clarity to local bodies that await a fresh mandate.
