BIANCA Della Valle has given up her hair to show her support for one of her childhood friends, who is courageously fighting brain cancer.
The 11-year-old has parted with her hair to raise money for Billie Fitzpatrick, 15, who is undergoing treatment for high-grade glioma.
The big shave happened on Saturday, November 8, 2025 opposite Rockabilly, which was supporting the fundraiser.
Supporters donated generously, raising $1720 for Billie, with the money to go towards managing the costs associated with her treatment.
"She's being really brave," Bianca said of her friend.
In addition to that, Bianca's discarded locks will be donated to Wigs4Kids to help children experiencing hair loss.
Prior to the shave, Bianca's hair was about the longest it had ever been, and she said it had been around a year since her last haircut.
Naturally, she said she was feeling "really nervous" about the shave, with her biggest fear being that she might be teased for having no hair.
However, she set aside her fears to support Billie, whom she's known for most of her life, and gained confidence from the crowd of family and friends cheering her on.
First, her four plaits were snipped away by retired hairdresser Leanne Boserio.
Ms Boserio then used the clippers to shave off the remaining hair.
Claps and cheers erupted when the process was complete.
Ms Boserio, who is also responsible for maintaining the Billie's Fight to beat Brain Cancer Facebook page, said it was brave of Bianca to do what she did.
"I think she's very brave, to be honest," she said.
"For a girl her age, it's a big thing to shave her head, but I think she's doing a beautiful thing for a good cause."
She also said Billie would be feeling "very honoured" to know what her young friend did for her.
Billie recently completed a six-week course of radiation and, in a few weeks, will undergo an MRI to see what impact the treatment has had.
"She is in pretty good spirits," Ms Boserio said, adding that she is very resilient.
Anyone who would like to support Billie can make a donation by depositing funds in the bank account set up to benefit her.
Updates about her treatment and progress will be posted to her Facebook page.
