A resident at a council-run housing estate in St Albans has raised concerns about the area being "blighted" by fly-tipping for "many years".
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, told the Herts Advertiser about a build-up of illegally dumped rubbished at Thirlestane flats off Lemsford Road.
The resident highlighted that although the district council usually deal with discarded waste quickly, the situation has been worsening in recent years.
"We are sick and tired of our estate being used as a rubbish dump, especially when there is a recycling depot less than a five minute drive away," he said.
"The estate has always been blighted by fly tipping, but over the past few years it has gradually got worse. I have reported fly-tipping on the estate in the past and sometimes it is cleared within a day or two. However, there have been times when more than a week has gone by, and the fly tipping has piled up."
The latest incident was first reported on Monday, September 1, and the individual was told that it would be cleared "that week". However, as of today the fly-tipping has continued to pile up.
The residents questioned if more could be done to prevent the illegal discarding of waste at the flats.
"I hope that signs warning people about fly-tipping and that people caught might be subject to prosecution could be put up to deter this," he added.
He also believed that erecting CCTV would help prevent future incidents.

A spokesperson for St Albans City and District Council said: "We have asked our waste contractor, Veolia, to clear the items as soon as possible. Our housing and environmental teams are also working together to explore longer-term solutions, including additional signage and other deterrents to reduce repeat offences.
"We encourage all residents to report fly-tipping directly to us so that we can arrange removal as quickly as possible. Reports can be made via our website at www.stalbans.gov.uk/fly-tipping.
"It is also important to use the correct bins for household waste and recycling - see details at: www.stalbans.gov.uk/recycling-and-rubbish.
"Large items like furniture and fridges can be taken to one of the three household waste and recycling centres, or collections can be booked via the council's bulky items collection service; see our website for details.
"Thanks to residents for helping to keep the district clean and tidy."
