Motorcyclist sustains life-threatening injuries in southwest Omaha crash

Mochi, a 3-year-old yellow Labrador retriever, was introduced as Omaha Fire Department's new facility support dog in 2024.

A 30-year-old man went to a hospital with life-threatening injuries Saturday night after his motorcycle collided with the side of another vehicle in southwest Omaha.

The incident occurred about 8:20 p.m. near 135th Avenue and West Center Road, according to a statement from the Omaha Police Department. The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was taken to the Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy with injuries that were determined to be life threatening.

Investigators determined that a 2001 Suzuki GSX-R1000 was westbound on West Center Road when the rider "lane split and struck the side of a westbound 2025 Honda CRV." The motorcycle then struck a curb and crashed.

The crash remains under investigation.
