Dec. 22 -- LIMA -- Jeans n' Classics will return with the Lima Symphony Orchestra for a show that should ring in the New Year with a party atmosphere this coming New Year's Eve.
Lima area residents can get tickets to see the performers share the sounds of Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, ABBA and Marvin Gaye at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center, 7 Town Square in Lima.
"It's going to be a fun, high-energy show," Lima Symphony Orchestra executive director Elizabeth Brown-Ellis said. "It's incredibly fun music that you'll remember from the disco and Motown eras. It's a really nice pairing of great bands and the richness of our orchestra musicians."
The orchestra has performed with Jeans n' Classics, a collection of accomplished musicians who perform popular music, before, bringing to life the sounds of Fleetwood Mac as recently as 2022.
"Every time we have them here, people ask when they're coming back," Brown-Ellis said. "And if we skip a year with them, I get a lot of calls and emails. People know the group and the professional and exciting show that they're going to deliver."
With music designed to make you dance, Brown-Ellis said the show will encourage the audience to interact.
"It's music that, even if we didn't grow up with it, we certainly know it's the soundtrack of our lives and it's fun to do something a little different than our normal model," she said. "We encourage people to sing along, get up and dance and really make it more a concert than a typical orchestral experience. And it's just music that I think people know and love."
The show should be perfect for anyone to supplement their celebration.
"Because it's at 7:30, you can make this the beginning of your evening and go out and have dinner or go to a party," Brown-Ellis added. "Or you can go to dinner first and make this the highlight of your evening before you go home to watch the ball drop. I think people really like being able to have that option and no matter what you are doing for the rest of your night, it's a fantastic start to it."
