ORANGE PARK, Fla. - Frank Wright Varney, 74, passed away peacefully on Nov. 30, 2024, in Orange Park, Fla., surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on Aug. 19, 1950, in Belfast, Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose life was marked by service and dedication.

Frank spent his early years in Belfast before joining the United States Army, where he served his country with honor. Following his military service, he settled in Augusta, where he joined the Augusta police department and later dedicated himself to the United States Postal Service. In 2016, Frank and his beloved wife of 50 years, Nancy L. Varney, relocated to Orange Park, Fla., where they enjoyed their retirement years together. Frank's family was the cornerstone of his life.

He is survived by his cherished daughter, Dawn Varney Votava, her husband, Stephen Votava, and his two adored granddaughters, Olivia and Abigail Votava, who brought immense joy to his life.

Frank will be laid to rest with military honors at the Veterans National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla., a fitting tribute to a man who served his country and community with distinction. Frank's memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Frank's memory to a cancer research organization of your choice, honoring his brave fight and supporting the ongoing battle against the disease
