A duo caught illegally driving vans loaded with scrap metal have been hit in the pocket.
Armando Grecu and Valerica Cismaru were discovered illicitly transporting waste as part of a police and council crackdown.
Grecu, 26, from Ilford, and Cismaru, 52, from Erith, have been fined £1,541 following a joint operation by Dartford council and the police.
Police sergeant Molly Irwin hopes the scheme, dubbed Op Assist, will help deter would-be offenders from blighting the environment.
"Targeting illegal waste carriers is essential to preventing fly-tipping and safeguarding our environment," she said.
"These activities not only damage our countryside but also undermine legitimate businesses and harm local communities.
"By taking action against offenders, we are reinforcing the message that environmental crime will not be tolerated."
Grecu's exploits were uncovered when he was stopped outside shops in Mead Road, Dartford on May 14.
On Friday, November 21, he was convicted of operating without a waste carrier's licence and ordered to pay a total of £1,121, comprising a £300 fine, a £120 victim surcharge and £701 in costs at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court.
Cismaru was stopped in Barfield, Sutton at Hone on February 12 during a previous deployment of Op Assist.
He was convicted last Friday at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court and fined £420 for failing to have a waste carrier's licence.
Dartford council leader Jeremy Kite said: "If someone takes your scrap for disposal, it's vital that you check for a waste carriers licence, so that you know it will be disposed of properly."
He explained that a simple check can "protect the environment" and support legitimate, fully licensed local businesses.
