Game Thread #116: Milwaukee Brewers (71-44) vs. New York Mets (63-53)

The Brewers won a thriller last night in the first of three versus the New York Mets, a game that ended on a perfect throw from Blake Perkins that cut down Starling Marte, the tying run, at the plate.

Tonight, they'll look to win their eighth straight game and fourth straight series as they send Tobias Myers to the mound to face off against the Mets' nominal starter (who is leading off what appears to be a bullpen game), Reed Garrett.

Myers is starting in place of Logan Henderson, who was recently placed on the IL with a flexor strain. After a fantastic 2024 season, Myers has not had a successful follow-up season; he has made eight appearances, five starts, and pitched to a 4.30 ERA in 23 innings (and a 3.77 ERA in 59 2/3 innings at Triple-A Nashville). While those results aren't awful, he has struggled with command and thus with earning the trust of his manager, Pat Murphy.

Anthony Seigler gets the start today for Milwaukee at third base, and there's another shuffle at the top of the lineup as Isaac Collins and William Contreras swap positions in the order.
