Patients at Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley hospital will have an easier time making their way to the Jim and Lesa Cyr Family Imaging Pavilion when construction of a new walkway is completed.
The Board of Directors of Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District recently approved spending more than $1 million for a project that will construct a wall to help protect patients and hospital employees from the weather.
Peggy Mendiburu, the district's chief executive officer, said the action took place at the board's Nov. 19 meeting.
The imaging pavilion, located at the rear of the hospital, houses a state-of-the-art MRI machine and a new 128-slice CT scanner. The $4 million project was made possible by a generous donation from the Cyr family of Tehachapi and other donations for a total of $2 million raised by the community.
The healthcare district board's action will allow Adventist Health to move forward with improvements to the open corridor connecting the imaging pavilion with the hospital, providing protection from the weather.
Pet rescue grants
The district recently donated $1,000 each to three local pet rescue organizations.
Mendiburu encourages others to consider ways the organizations contribute to the quality of life locally and make donations of their own.
Marley's Mutts, Fixin' Feral Felines and Have a Heart Humane Society were the organizations receiving the $1,000 grants from the healthcare district.
