LISTED: All the new flights to and from Austria in 2026

Airlines have started releasing details of their spring/summer 2026 schedule.

Passengers travelling from Austria will see a mix of new connections, expanded services and some cancellations.

Here's a look at some of the highlights, as well as changes to keep an eye on.

Austrian Airlines

As The Local has been reporting, the country's flagship carrier Austrian Airlines is adding new destinations to its summer schedule, partly in response to cuts by budget airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air.

In 2026, the airline will introduce seven new short and medium-haul destinations. The carrier's summer timetable, which is in place from March 29th to October 24th 2026, will feature new flights to Spain, the Azores, Corsica, Greece, North Macedonia and Norway.

In total, it will result in 113 short- and medium-haul destinations, and 20 long-haul routes from Vienna Airport.

Here's the latest list of new flights:

Vienna - Ponta Delgada (Azores, Portugal): weekly on Tuesdays, late June to early September 2026.

Vienna - Alicante (Spain): Two flights per week on Wednesdays and Sundays, from March 29th.

Vienna - Bilbao (Spain): Two flights per week on Wednesdays and Sundays, from March 29th.

Vienna - Bastia (Corsica, France): Two flights per week on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from summer.

Vienna - Ohrid (North Macedonia): Two flights per week on Wednesdays and Sundays, mid-May to late October.

Vienna - Mytilene (Lesbos, Greece): weekly on Mondays, mid-June to late September.

Vienna - Bergen (Norway): Three flights per week, summer 2026.

Vienna - Tallinn (Estonia): Two flights per week on Mondays and Fridays, resumed from March 30th 2026.

Air Corsica (Vienna)

Vienna - Ajaccio (Corsica, France): One flight per week, seasonal summer.

Vienna - Bastia (Corsica, France): Two flights per week, seasonal summer.

Condor

German airline Condor recently introduced daily connections from Vienna to Frankfurt.

In addition to the Frankfurt link, Condor continues to operate from Vienna to holiday destinations, including Palma de Mallorca, Kos, and Rhodes (as part of their Mediterranean summer/winter offering), according to Vienna Airport.

EasyJet

For travel early in January, EasyJet's winter schedule includes new connections from Vienna. But these are not guaranteed to carry on throughout the year. Keep an eye out in case they return soon!

Vienna - Liverpool (England): runs to January 11th 2026, three times a week.

Vienna - London Gatwick (England): runs to January 4th, up to four times a week.

Other new routes to keep an eye on:

Some smaller airlines are planning to expand routes in Austria. For instance, Dutch airline Transavia is to increase its connection from Salzburg to Amsterdam with four weekly flights from summer 2026.

And GP Aviation is connecting Salzburg with Pristina in Kosova with two flights per week, starting March 29th.

Meanwhile, increased connections between Graz and London Gatwick, operated by British Airways, are continuing into 2026 after launching in late 2025.

Eurowings plans to continue offering two weekly flights between Salzburg and Marrakech until at least April 2026.

For sun-seekers, Eurowings offers a diverse range of destinations from Salzburg. Palma de Mallorca is on the schedule from Salzburg over Christmas, and again from March 2026.

The Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air announced it will close its Vienna base in two phases by March 2026.

Wizz Air has operated a base in Vienna since 2018 and flew on 28 routes to 20 countries from the Austrian capital.

Some routes have already been phased out, with all remaining connections set to be cut by March 15th.

The company is reportedly closing the base due to significantly increased airport charges, taxes and ground-handling costs in Vienna, alongside a strategic focus on core markets in Central and Eastern Europe.

The carrier said customers in Austria will continue to be served via its nearby base in Bratislava and via Budapest.

Ryanair

A number of services are being cut at Vienna airport by Irish budget carrier Ryanair in protest of what it calls Austria's "harmful" air traffic tax and high airport charges,

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary has also threatened to cut more routes unless operating costs in Austria are reduced.

The airline will cut two aircraft from the Vienna base for summer 2026, resulting in a reduction in capacity.

Confirmed cancellations include connections to Billund (Denmark) Santander (Spain) and Tallinn (Estonia).
