MICHIGANTOWN, Ind. (WISH) -- A police officer and a suspect were injured in a Tuesday night shooting on a rural stretch of State Road 29 in rural Clinton County, the state police told News 8.
Sgt. Jeremy Piers said the officer was stable with a suspected gunshot wound. Piers did not immediately know what department that the officer was from.
The suspect also suffered a suspected gunshot wound. The suspect's condition was not immediately known to Piers.
It was not immediately clear what had led to the shooting.
Indiana State Police will be investigating the shooting, which happened near Clinton County Road 400 North, about a mile north of Michigantown.
A massive police presence remained around the site just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Michigantown, a town of about 420 residents, is about 5 miles northeast of the Clinton County seat of Frankfort, and an hour's drive northwest of downtown Indianapolis.
