Free caregiver event in Huntsville offers vital support

Caring for a loved one can be challenging, especially when balancing personal tasks with caregiving duties. To support those in need, the Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments (TARCOG), is hosting a Caregiver College.

This one-day event will take place on Friday, Nov. 21, starting at 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Huntsville Marriott Space and Rocket Center.

This free event is in its ninth year and aims to empower, educate, and elevate both family and professional caregivers.

"You don't learn those in college or at church. You have to be focused on this space," said Michelle Jordan, Executive Director of aging programs. "Many people, like you, find themselves in this space earlier than and juggling between caring for parents and children."

According to AARP, there are more than 1.1 million unpaid family caregivers in Alabama. For those needing immediate assistance, contact TARCOG at (256) 830-0818.
