INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) -- The Marion County Treasurer's Office on Wednesday promoted a new paperless billing initiative for property taxes, set to begin with the spring 2026 invoice.
The treasurer's office encouraged property owners to switch to electronic billing for convenience, security, efficiency, and environmental benefits. County Treasurer Barbara Lawrence, a Democrat, said in a news release issued Wednesday, "Advances in technology and security have made paperless E-billing a great option to reduce paper clutter, save on postage, increase sustainability and provide overall better service to residents."
Individuals owning more than 60 parcels will not be eligible for paperless billing.
The treasurer said paperless billing allows property owners to receive and review tax bills instantly, reducing the need for in-person visits to her office in the City-County Building in downtown Indianapolis, and reduce paper use and mailings.
Also, the release said, electronic billing uses advanced encryption and security protocols to ensure the safety of viewing and downloading tax bills.
Instructions for taxpayers were included in the release.
