Last Friday, 9/5, SAS celebrated Grandparents' Day with Mass followed by a parade of Mimis, Papaws, Grannies and Popos honking horns and waving! Grandparents decorated their vehicles and drove around the block while the student body lined the sidewalks, cheering with excitement. Grandparents are so special and play such an important role in our SAS family! It is a privilege to honor these wonderful folks and may God bless them all.
Congratulations to the SAS Athletes of the Month...Isabella Lowe, Carley Aaron and Maddie Wright earned the honor for their efforts and attitude during the month of August. Recent Angel Card recipients (for doing good deeds) are Nathan Decker, Braxton Blaschke, and Cormac Barten.
Huge thanks go to First State Bank of Columbus for their recent donation of 20 Chromebooks to our Junior High in memory of former SAS parent volunteer, Karl Hill.
Last Thursday, the Saints football team took part in their season opener vs. St. Joseph at Yoakum. Our boys came up short but showed some grit in the 6-man competition.
Mrs. Bartels' 4K class held their annual Teddy Bear Picnic last week. Students went on a "bear hunt" for their own special stuffed animal and then enjoyed a snack-time picnic after all the bears were found.
Good luck to all local youth participating in the Colorado County Fair this coming weekend! SAS appreciates the many Fair volunteers for their hard work.
The deadline for Chicken Fried Pork Steak tickets is Friday, Sept. 12. The KCs are hosting the drive-thru meal on Sept. 21 to benefit SAS Special Projects. $13 tickets are available from any SAS student, and in the school and church offices.
