Boston Legacy FC is continuing to stock up on talent from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
On Monday, the team announced the signing of its second University of North Carolina product in midfielder Raleigh Gambone.
In July, the club signed defender Emerson Elgin, who overlapped with Gambone at UNC in 2021 and 2022.
After starting seven games as a freshman for the Tar Heels in 2019, Gambone's most productive season came when she was a sophomore. Appearing in 20 games, the midfielder tallied seven assists, including three in one match against Tennessee.
Although she never became a full-time starter at UNC, she still made another 44 appearances for the team over her final two seasons, and finished her career with nearly 3,000 minutes played.
After college, Gambone had a short stint with Fortuna Hjørring in Denmark, appearing in three league matches.
The next year, she signed a two-year contract with Glasgow City F.C. in the Scottish Women's Premier League. There, the American found a starting role, appearing in 36 matches and scoring nine goals in her two seasons.
After her deal in Scotland expired, Gambone inked a two-year deal with the Legacy. Before she heads to Boston however, the 24-year-old will go on loan to the Bundesliga, playing for FC Nürnberg Frauen until the 2026 preseason.
"Aleigh joins the NWSL having gained valuable experience in Europe, both domestically and at the UEFA Women's Champions League level," Legacy General Manager Domè Guasch said in a statement. "She has a solid foundation to build on having experienced four years at UNC.
"Aleigh is a hardworking and versatile midfielder that brings a strong physical presence and ability to cover ground effectively. Finishing the year in the Bundesliga will further prepare her for the 2026 NWSL season."
