Emotions were high between Green Bay and Denver early in Week 14. With approximately nine minutes remaining in the first quarter, Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga was seen shoving Jordan Love's head near the ground after the Packers quarterback ran out of bounds to the Green Bay sideline.
Officials did not penalize the safety, but CBS Sports broadcast cameras captured the incident.
Per Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the league fined Hufanga $11,533 for unnecessary roughness.
"The NFL fined Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga $11,533 for unnecessary roughness -- shoving Packers QB Jordan Love's head after a play last week," Pelissero posted on X. "No flag was thrown."
Hufanga finished the game with three tackles and one tackle for loss.
Love went 24-of-40 for 276 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He added 29 yards on the ground.
Some NFL fans were upset that officials didn't penalize Hufanga during the game.
"And the idiot refs missed it. They are such a joke," wrote a fan.
"I can accept that the refs didn't see that play and therefore that is why they didn't throw a flag, but if New York can call down to the Chargers Chiefs game and eject Tony Jefferson then they should be able to call down to that game and tell them to throw a flag," argued another.
Hufanga avoided a fine for an unnecessary roughness penalty he was called for against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3.
The Broncos will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
