Thane, Nov 27 (UNI) A serious error in the draft voter lists for the upcoming 2025 general elections has sparked controversy in Thane after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Avinash Jadhav on Thursday flagged discrepancies on the Thane Municipal Corporation's (TMC) official website.
While examining the draft rolls for Ward No. 12, Jadhav discovered that the lists displayed on the TMC website were actually those of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). Shockingly, addresses such as Airoli Sector 2 and Amrit Sar Society -- clearly within Navi Mumbai limits -- were found in the Thane voter database.
Calling the matter a "serious lapse", Jadhav questioned the efficiency and credibility of the election-related processes. He said that such mix-ups create doubts about the transparency and preparedness of authorities ahead of crucial polls.
Following rising criticism, the erroneous lists were removed from the website within hours. However, the incident has put the TMC administration on the defensive, especially with elections round the corner. UNI SP CDS
