KMC Legal and Finance has announced the appointment of highly experienced solicitor Jas Uppal, who joins the practice as Senior Solicitor within its Civil Department.
With more than 30 years of experience across civil litigation, family law, criminal matters and public law, Ms Uppal brings significant depth and knowledge to the growing firm. Her career includes senior and specialist roles with local authorities, police forces, universities and national organisations, including Staffordshire Police, Birmingham City Council, Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and NHS Digital.
She has represented clients in a wide range of complex cases including housing and civil disputes, public law challenges, protective orders and criminal investigations. Her work has taken her from the Magistrates' Court to the High Court and she is known for her clear guidance, attention to detail and calm, strategic approach.
Alongside her UK legal work, Ms Uppal is the Founder and Director of Justice Upheld, an international human rights charity offering free legal support to individuals denied access to justice. Through the charity, she has represented cases before the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances in Geneva and the Supreme Court of India, and has helped secure the release of individuals unlawfully detained overseas.
Speaking about her role, Ms Uppal said: "I am delighted to join KMC Legal. The firm has a strong reputation for supporting clients through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and I look forward to contributing my experience and working alongside a dedicated and growing team."
KMC Legal's Managing Director, Katie McCreath, said: "Jas brings an outstanding level of expertise and a genuine commitment to justice. Her background across multiple areas of law, as well as her international human rights work, makes her an exceptional addition to our firm. We are proud to welcome her and confident she will play a key role in our continued expansion."

Ms Uppal will represent clients across civil matters and support the firm with protective order cases, pre charge engagement and criminal investigations.
