New information regarding Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers' death has been announced.
The musician, who has been lovingly described as "pure magic", left fans in shock after his sudden passing.
His exact cause of death remains undisclosed. A representative from the St. Johns County department of the Florida Fire Rescue has informed media outlets that emergency services were called to attend a "non-responsive person in cardiac arrest" on 18 October and officers "responded to an attended death" at the identical location.
The term 'attended death' refers to circumstances where the deceased individual had been receiving medical treatment for a severe or potentially fatal condition anticipated to result in death within a relatively brief timeframe - typically days or months rather than years, reports the Mirror.
No specific information about Rivers' health prior to his death has been confirmed or denied.
The bassist was one of the original founding members of Limp Bizkit when the band formed back in 1994. Rivers' fellow band members - Fred Durst, John Otto, Wes Borland and DJ Lethal - broke the devastating news of his death through a heartfelt tribute on social media.
They wrote: "'In Loving Memory of Our Brother, Sam Rivers. Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat.
"Sam Rivers wasn't just our bass player - he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound. From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced."
"His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous. We shared so many moments - wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones - and every one of them meant more because Sam was there."
They described him as a "once-in-a-lifetime kind of human" and a "true legend" and concluded with a vow that Rivers' legacy would endure: "And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory. We love you, Sam. We'll carry you with us, always. Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends. - Fred, Wes, John and DJ Lethal."
